My Recommended Sensory Products

Some people are sensory-seeking, craving stimulation, while others are more sensory-sensitive and can feel overwhelmed by too much input. Sensory products can help balance these needs. Below, you will find some of my favorite ones!

Headphones and Ear Defenders

Headphones and ear protection can make a big difference for people with sensory sensitivities. Noise-canceling headphones help reduce overwhelming sounds, making busy environments more manageable. Soft ear defenders or earplugs can also provide comfort by lowering background noise without blocking everything completely. See All >

Fidget Toys

Fidget toys are small, handheld tools designed to provide sensory stimulation and keep the hands busy while the mind focuses elsewhere. They come in a wide variety of shapes, textures, and mechanisms, from spinning toys and cubes to putty, chewelry, and textured tactile objects. The common thread is that they allow for repetitive, controlled motions—whether it’s twisting, pressing, squeezing, or chewing—which can help release nervous energy, reduce stress, and improve focus.

Compression Vests and Weighted Blankets

Compression vests and weighted blankets are sensory tools designed to provide deep pressure stimulation, which can have a calming and organizing effect on the nervous system. They are often used by children and adults who benefit from sensory regulation, including those with anxiety, ADHD, autism, or sensory processing differences.

Compression vests are snug-fitting garments that apply gentle, consistent pressure around the torso. This pressure can help the wearer feel more grounded, reduce fidgeting, and promote focus. Vests are adjustable to ensure comfort and effectiveness, and they’re typically used during daily activities, therapy sessions, or situations where a calming effect is needed without restricting movement. Weighted blankets, on the other hand, use evenly distributed weight across the body, often filled with glass beads or other materials. Lying under a weighted blanket provides a similar deep pressure sensation to a hug, which can help lower stress levels, improve sleep, and increase relaxation. Weighted blankets are commonly used at bedtime, during rest periods, or even while sitting at a desk for calming input.

Calming Sensory Lights

Calming sensory lights are visual tools designed to soothe and focus the mind through gentle, moving, or color-changing illumination. They work by providing predictable, slow visual stimulation—like soft glows, drifting patterns, or liquid motion effects—which can help reduce anxiety, improve attention, and create a relaxing environment. Suitable for all ages, these lights are often used in bedrooms, sensory rooms, or study spaces, offering a calming effect without requiring active interaction. See all Calming Sensory Lights >
